Peas sundal/ pattani sundal

You gotta try this Peas Sundal. 😋 It is yummy and filling too!

Serves: 4


Ingredients:

Dry peas- 1 cup 

Onion- 1 medium sized

Grated coconut- 3 tbsp 

Sambhar powder- 1.5 tsp 

Ginger- ½ tsp grated 

Garlic- 1 chopped 

Mustard seeds- ¾ tsp

Salt- to taste 

Oil- 2 tsp


Method:

🔸Soak dry peas in water overnight. Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles. 

🔸Heat oil in a kadhai. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.

🔸Add onion and chopped ginger-garlic and saute well till the raw smell disappears. 

🔸Add cooked dry peas and mix well.

🔸Add sambhar powder and salt and give a good mix. Now, add grated coconut and mix again.

🔸After 1-2 minutes, switch off the stove and serve hot. Enjoy it as a snack.


Notes: You can add a mix of turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder, if you don't have sambhar powder.

If raw mango is available in season, then try adding few pieces of raw mango for more flavour and to recreate the famous sundal we get in Chennai beach. My mouth is watering already as I write this. 😅
