Homemade protein bar (cardamom/ elaichi- flavored protein bar)

Hello,

We are back with another homemade protein bar. We have made protein bars at home earlier. If you are curious to check out the recipe, click here.

We wanted to try a new flavour because who doesn’t love a variety? We sure do. This one turned out superb and is filling too. Even our parents liked it 😉.  Without further ado, let's have a look at the recipe!

Makes- 8 bars

Ingredients:

Sunflower seeds- 1 cup

Cashews- 1/4 cup

Black dates- 17 nos.

Unflavored pea protein powder- 1 scoop

Pista badam plant protein powder (from The whole truth)- 1 scoop

Cardamom (elaichi)- 5 nos.

Method:

1. Dry roast sunflower seeds in a pan till it is light golden. Keep it aside and let it cool.

2. Remove the seeds from dates and tear each date piece into half. (Makes it easier to blend well)

3. Dry roast cashews and cardamom. Keep it aside.

4. In a mixer jar, add sunflower seeds, cashews and cardamom. Grind them well into a powder consistency.

5. Now add dates and grind again.

6. Next, add unflavored pea protein and pista badam protein powder and grind again. You will get a nice consistency to make it into bars. You know it is done when it comes together.

7. Divide the mixture into 8 parts. Then, shape them into bars. Ta-da, it is ready!

Best to keep these bars in an air-tight container and store in the fridge.

Notes:

  • If the mixture is not sticky enough or falls apart, add  2-3 date pieces and grind the mixture again. (In step 6)
  • Best to use soft dates, so that it helps in binding the ingredients.
  • Though we have used plant-based protein powder, feel free to use whey protein powder. The Whole Truth also has Pista badam whey protein powder.
